Kwara Restates Support For Local Goods Ahead Of Pre-Ramadan Trade Fair
The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to promoting local production, describing it as a fundamental driver for economic growth and sustainable development.
The Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, made this statement in Ilorin while receiving a delegation from the Muslimah Entrepreneur Business Forum. The group visited the Ministry ahead of the upcoming Pre-Ramadan Trade Fair 3.0, a strategic event designed to increase the visibility and competitiveness of locally made goods.
Dr. Nuru highlighted that the initiative aligns with the state's broader agenda to empower indigenous producers. She emphasized the critical role of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), particularly women-owned businesses, in creating jobs and building a resilient, self-sustaining economy.
"The trade fair provides an important opportunity to showcase our local products and connect our entrepreneurs to wider markets. The Kwara State government remains committed to supporting local production and ensuring that our goods and services meet the standards required to compete effectively," Nuru stated.
She further assured the forum of the government's continued backing for projects that promote ethical trade and sustainable livelihoods. Earlier, the convener of the forum, Hajia Fatimah Saliu, formally invited the state government to the fair and sought the Ministry's support to ensure the success of the entrepreneurial gathering.
