NERC Responsible for Electricity Billing System - PHCN

Date: 2013-02-14

The present billing system for electricity consumption throughout the country emanates from the National Electricity Regulatory Commission, Business Manager, Power Holding Company of Nigeria, Omu-Aran the Business District, Kwara State, Mr. Moses Oyewole, has said.

While addressing consumers in the district on Wednesday, Oyewole said the billing system could not be altered in the district.

He advised consumers to regulate their electricity usage by putting off unused bulbs and other apparatus, especially during the day to minimise cost.

Oyewole promised customers constant and regular power supply in the district.

He reassured the customers, especially the youth, of the ability of the company to sustain the current constant power supply in the district.

He promised that electricity billing for the district would continue to be charged according to the monthly usage based on the reading on individual meters.

He urged the residents to promptly report faults and suggest ways of improving electricity supply to the district.

According to him, there are cases in which many of the faults or associated problems relating to power supply are not promptly reported, especially to the appropriate authorities.

The business manager advised residents of the district to report any suspicious movement around PHCN installations as well as provide useful information to curb the menace of equipment vandalism.
