Kwara United returned to form at the ongoing ValueJet Preseason Tournament with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Ikorodu City in their second match of the campaign.

The Harmony Boys opened the scoring in the 27th minute when Saheed Olaniyi calmly converted a penalty after Wasiu Jimoh was brought down inside the box. Alao Mohammed extended the lead with a composed solo goal, showcasing finesse and timing in front of goal.

Babatunde Bright added a third in the 77th minute, slotting home his second goal in two games to put Kwara United firmly in control.

However, Ikorodu City mounted a spirited comeback with two late goals including a penalty ramping up the pressure in the dying moments.

Goalkeeper Ayeleso Suraj emerged as the hero, having already saved a first-half penalty and later denying a retaken spot-kick after the referee ordered a rekick due to encroachment. His crucial interventions preserved the win and earned him plaudits from fans and officials alike.

Head coach Tunde Sanni commended his team's effort but stressed the need for continued improvement.

"We will keep working hard and fixing every loophole ahead of the NPFL season," Sanni said. "There are positives to build on, but discipline and focus must be sharpened."

Kwara United will next face Abia Warriors as they continue their preparations for the new league season.
