NUC Approves 14 Undergraduate Programmes for AbdulRasaq Abubakar Toyin University
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for the commencement of 14 full-time undergraduate programmes at AbdulRasaq Abubakar Toyin University (AATU), Oke Ogba, Ganmo, Kwara State.
The approval follows the Commission's inaugural Resource Verification Visit to the institution, conducted to assess the university's preparedness to launch its proposed academic courses.
In a letter dated 5th August 2025, addressed to the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor AbdulRauf Ambali, the Executive Secretary of the NUC, Professor Abdullahi Yesufu Ribadu, confirmed the approval under the title: "Approval for the Resource Verification Visit to Take-Off Programmes of AbdulRasaq Abubakar Toyin University, Oke Ogba, Kwara State."
The NUC stated that the decision was based on findings from expert panels, which evaluated the availability of qualified academic staff, teaching facilities, library resources, and laboratory infrastructure necessary for the successful delivery of the programmes.
This milestone marks a significant step forward in AATU's academic development, paving the way for its first cohort of degree students to begin studies under full NUC accreditation.
Further details on admission requirements and programme structures are expected to be released by the university administration in the coming weeks.
The 14 approved courses cut across three faculties namely:

B.Sc. Information Technology
B.Sc. Software Engineering
B.Sc. Biochemistry
B.Sc. Biotechnology
Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences
B.Sc. Accounting
B.A. History and Diplomatic Studies
B.Sc. Business Administration
B.Sc. Economics
Faculty of Environmental Sciences
B.Sc. Architecture
B.Sc. Estate Management
B.Sc. Quantity Surveying
B.Sc. Urban and Regional Planning
The Commission disclosed that all the approved programmes are to be offered at the University's main campus beginning from the 2025/2026 academic session.
Reacting to this development with delight, the acting Vice Chancellor of the University,Prof AbdulRauf Ambali said that "this milestone marks a significant step in the journey of AAT University towards becoming a centre of excellence in the world's tertiary education landscape".
