Kwara Police Command has confirmed five fatalities, including Police Inspector Adejumo Wasiu, following a deadly motorcycle-borne assault on Babanla, Ifelodun LGA, on 8 August 2025.

In a Sunday statement, Spokesperson Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi revealed armed attackers stormed Babanla's Divisional Police Headquarters and market, firing indiscriminately. A joint military-police-vigilante operation swiftly repelled the assault, restoring order and launching a manhunt for the perpetrators.

Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo and Kwara DSS Director visited the community on Sunday for an urgent security assessment, holding crisis talks with traditional ruler Oba Yusuf Arojojoye II to strengthen community-security collaboration. The joint delegation toured key locations, including the market, Police Headquarters, and surrounding areas, to ensure stability was fully restored.

The Commissioner ordered sustained armed patrols, continuous intelligence gathering, and deployment of specialised tracking teams.

Ejire-Adeyemi added that the DSS also pledged ongoing intelligence support to apprehend those responsible for the attack.

She reiterated the command's commitment, in synergy with other security agencies, to protecting lives and property in Kwara.

She urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative with security agencies by providing credible information.
