Kwara State Government Pledges N50,000 Monthly Stipends for Families of Anti-Kidnapping Heroes
Kwara State has announced monthly stipends of N50,000 for 27 families of security operatives killed during anti-kidnapping operations across Edu Local Government Area.
LGA Chairman Abdullahi Bello Ndamangoro disclosed the initiative during Firdau prayers (Islamic memorial service) for the fallen heroes in the Lafiagi, Shonga, and Tsaragi emirates. The stipend, effective immediately, honours operatives who lost their lives in gun battles while combating kidnapping networks.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Ndamangoro expressed profound sympathy to the bereaved families, stating: "These heroes paid the ultimate price for our safety. This stipend reflects our commitment to supporting their loved ones and honouring their sacrifice in the fight for peace." The initiative underscores Kwara State's sustained efforts to address insecurity in rural communities.
"May their souls rest in peace, and may Allah grant them Al-jannah fidaus and comfort the families they left behind," the council chairman added.
He noted further that the funds has been disbursed to every councilor representing every ward from the three Emirates for immediate release to the beneficiaries identified during documentation and profiling.
"The beneficiaries will receive this fund from the council every month from now till our tenure expires as the Council of Edu LGA. This money cannot take care of their needs, but it is a form of relief and recognition to the families affected by this tragedy," the chairman asserted.
"The Edu Local Government Council will continue to appreciate and wish the Governor of Kwara State, Malam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, a successful administration for his support to the safety of lives and properties of the good people of Edu Local Government Area," the Chairman stated.
