Unidentified armed assailants launched an attack on Awi village, a Fulani and Hausa settlement near Omu-Aran, Kwara State, shortly after midnight on Sunday, firing shots and sowing panic before abducting three women.

The victims—identified as Halimi Kadiri, Gaaje Yusuf, and Maria Isah, a nursing mother belong to the Fulani Bororo ethnic group. The assault, which occurred around 1:00 a.m. on 29 June 2025, left residents in distress as the attackers fled into the surrounding forested areas.

Community leader Danbare Sarki Fulani reported the incident to security authorities by 10:00 a.m., prompting a rapid deployment of police and local vigilante forces. A search operation was launched in nearby forests, with security teams intensifying efforts to locate the abductors and secure the release of the women.
