Kwara Government Applauds Polytechnic's Agricultural Innovations Amid Land Encroachment Pledges
The Kwara State Government has praised the management of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, for its efforts to elevate educational standards and innovative initiatives, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the state's pioneer tertiary institution.
The commendation was delivered by Hajia Saa'datu Modibbo-Kawu, Commissioner for Tertiary Education, during an official visit to the institution. She highlighted the polytechnic's commercial farming and smart agriculture projects as standout achievements in advancing academic and practical learning.
The commissioner pledged continued government support for the polytechnic's pursuit of academic excellence and assured the institution of assistance whenever needed. In response to challenges raised by the rector-including land encroachment and funding constraints-Hajia Modibbo-Kawu confirmed the government's resolve to address the land encroachment issues threatening the polytechnic's expansion and future development.
She restated the government's commitment to continue to assist the polytechnic in meeting accreditation standards and provide quality education to its students.
Earlier, the rector of the polytechnic, Dr Abdul Jimoh Muhammed, had highlighted land encroachment and funding constraints as the institution's major challenges.
Muhammed emphasised the pressing need for financial assistance, particularly during accreditation exercises.
The visit concluded with a tour of the Polytechnic's commercial farm, Poultry farm, and Entrepreneurship Development Centre .
