Kwara TESCOM Acknowledges Applicants as Recruitment Process Nears Completion
The Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has extended its gratitude to all applicants who participated in its ongoing teacher recruitment process, noting that the high turnout reflects public confidence in Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's administration.
As the process nears its conclusion, TESCOM Chairman, Mallam Bello Taoheed, revealed that 4,163 applicants have been interviewed out of the 5,290 invitees . He emphasized that the final selections will be guided by merit, equity, and the state's educational needs , ensuring transparency and fairness in the appointment of qualified candidates.
The Commission confirmed that shortlisted finalists will be notified directly via official channels. Governor AbdulRazaq's administration has prioritised rigorous yet inclusive recruitment criteria to strengthen the quality of education across Kwara's public schools.
“The difference in the two figures comes from the applicants who did not turn up for the interview or did not meet the well-stated criteria for the screening,” he said.
“Out of the 4,163 screened and interviewed, 2,169 are females, while 1,994 are males. Some 2,252 applicants (54.10%) were screened and interviewed for STEM subjects.
“We thank all the applicants who responded to the call from the beginning of the process.” The statement said the commission will contact shortlisted candidates at a later date once it has done the due diligence and completed its work.
Shortlisted candidates will then undergo approved drug test at the NDLEA before they are offered the job, he added.
“From the CBT to the interview stage, the process has thrown up very brilliant and suitable candidates for the job. We wish we can take everyone who scaled through the interview stage, but we are obviously limited to 1,800 new hires in this phase,” the statement said.
“Regardless, our decision will be guided by merit, equity, and our needs assessment across the 16 local government.”
