Kwara State Unveils New International Market in Gbugbu; Officials Stress Efficient Management

The Kwara State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has successfully completed the construction of an international market in Gbugbu, Edu Local Government Area, Kwara State.

To evaluate the facilities, Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun, the Commissioner for Business, Innovation, and Technology, accompanied by Engr. Mrs. Shade Omoniyi, Chairman of KW-IRS (Kwara Internal Revenue Service), and representatives from both the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Technology and KW-IRS, conducted a site visit to assess the market's operations.

During the inspection, Engr. Mrs. Omoniyi highlighted the importance of effective market management to ensure its long-term sustainability and enhance revenue generation for the state. She encouraged stakeholders to make optimal use of the market, noting its strategic location as a key hub for farmers from nearby communities. Additionally, she called for collaborative efforts to transform the market into a vibrant commercial center.

Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness in the market and ensuring the proper allocation of trading spaces. She recommended organizing traders into structured groups, where those dealing in similar goods, such as grains, are designated specific areas to enhance orderliness and efficiency. She also encouraged the unification of all traders' associations for better coordination.

As part of the visit, the team paid a courtesy call to the Emir of Lafiagi, Alhaji Mohammed Kudu Kawu, expressing gratitude to the state government under the leadership of His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his continuous support to the community.
