Kwara State to Benefit from $45 Million EU-UNICEF Health Programme
Kwara State, located in North Central Nigeria, has been selected as one of the three states to benefit from the implementation of a $45 million EU-UNICEF programme in Nigeria, as reported by Voice of Nigeria.
The project, according to the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Aminat Ahmed El-Imam, is tagged the “Strengthening Access to Reproductive and Adolescent Health (SARAH) project.” She stated that this initiative is part of the efforts of the state Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in the health sector.
Dr. El-Imam disclosed that the SARAH project would improve the health and well-being of the state's citizens by addressing reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health and nutrition challenges.
Speaking at the launch of the project in Abuja, the Commissioner explained that attracting the project to the state could not had been possible without the Governor's leadership quality, transparency and adoption of global best practices in the state.
The Commissioner further acknowledged that the Governor's successful engagement efforts with UNICEF Country Representative, Ms. Christian Munduate and other donors had continually attract significant partnerships and resources to the state.
She added that the achievement demonstrates Governor AbdulRazaq's commitment to enhance health sector and improve lives of state residents.
El-Imam therefore, reaffirmed the commitment of the Kwara State health sector, at achieving the project's objectives and deliverables.
The $45 million SARAH project will be implemented across Adamawa, Kwara and Sokoto states in Nigeria.
