Security Agencies Prevent Crisis in Oro Kingdom Over Planned Church Disruption
Security forces on Sunday averted a major unrest in Oro Kingdom, in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Intelligence reports reaching DAILY POST indicated that a group in the community planned to cause a crisis at the Catholic Church in the town, where the traditional ruler, Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyetoye Olufayo II, also intended to worship.
Consequently, the church was put under lock and key by the aggrieved section of the community to avert any bloody clash that could have been triggered by the development.
The spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, Ayoola Michael Shola, confirmed the development to DAILY POST in Ilorin on Sunday.
He said the proactive action taken by the security forces helped to reduce the tension between some members of the community and the monarch.
“A combined team of the Police, DSS, and NSCDC is at the church to protect lives and property, while the facility is under lock and key,” he added.
