Flooding in Bode Saadu Leaves Over 2,000 Homeless, Damages Homes and Farmlands
As reported by Daily Trust, the Bode Saadu community in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State has been severely affected by flooding, which has displaced more than 2,000 residents and caused widespread destruction. The incident occurred on Wednesday night, submerging over 100 homes and damaging roads, properties, farmlands, and the Arinun Bridge.
Residents living near the riverbank were forced to evacuate as floodwaters inundated their homes. Bode Saadu, located along the Ilorin-Jebba federal highway and near the Jebba Dam, has been heavily impacted by the flood.
Local residents reported that flooding is a recurring issue in the area, exacerbated by inadequate drainage caused by a makeshift bridge on the express road.
Hon. John Bello, Special Assistant on Special Duties, accompanied Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on a visit to the affected areas and confirmed that over 2,000 residents and 100 households were impacted. He stated that the Ministry of Works and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) are assessing the situation to provide necessary support.
