Kwara State UBE Board Announces 1,600 New Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff Across 16 LGAs

Date: 2024-08-28

According to the news gathered from The Punch, the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board is preparing to engage 1,600 teaching and non-teaching staff across the 16 local government areas of the state. This was announced by the Board's Chairman, Professor Raheem Adaramaja, on Tuesday.

Professor Adaramaja stated that the recruitment exercise will be based on a needs assessment recently conducted across the 16 councils in the state.

According to a statement signed by the Board's Press Secretary, Atere Ameenat, the recruitment follows the approval from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to fill vacancies created by retirements, deaths, or transfers of service to other states.

“Recruitment is going to take place at the local government level or at the nearest communities/villages where their services are greatly needed.

“Successful candidates will sign a bond of non-movement or transfer from their new place of work for the first 5 years — a condition that is based on the experience of teachers not staying in the hinterlands,” the statement said.

The chairman said the exercise aligns with the governor's commitment to strengthening the educational sector, especially at the local level.

The SUBEB chair added that the exercise will last for 3 weeks from the date of commencement.
