Stakeholders Hail Governor's Achievements Ahead of Local Elections in Kwara
Kwara State's All Progressives Congress (APC) launched its chairmanship and councillorship campaigns in Irepodun Local Government over the weekend, as reported by The Nation.
At the event, stakeholders expressed confidence that APC candidates in the council and throughout the state would secure a resounding victory at the polls.
The stakeholders were unanimous in their belief that Governor AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq's impressive track record of achievements in the local government and across the state would give APC candidates a significant advantage over their opponents.
Speaking in Omu-Aran, the headquarters of the council, the stakeholders formally introduced the chairmanship candidate, AbdulAzeez Tinuola, and the councillorship candidates from the 11 wards in the local government.
A member representing Irepodun Constituency in Kwara State House of Assembly, Shola Odetundun, said: “APC will win election in the local government because our governor is performing.
“Governor AbdulRazaq is fixing major roads that have been abandoned by previous administrations. These developmental projects will attract voters to our candidates.
“Besides, our candidates are popular. They are people's choice.”
An ally of the governor in the council, Alhaji Raheem Adedoyin, expressed optimism in the capacity of the party.
He said: “APC has never lost election in Irepodun Local Government. Our candidates will run on the records of performance of the governor. We are comfortable that we will achieve easy victory, as the governor has set the pace for us in the council.”
The Director-General of AbdulAzeez Tinuola Campaign Organisation, Prof Bashir Olaitan, said the antecedents of Tinuola would work in his favour at the polls.
Said he: “The chances of Tinuola are 100 per cent assured. It is unprecedented. He is a former councillor, erstwhile vice chairman of the council and currently chairman, Kwara State Okada Riders Association.
“Not only that, he has carried out community projects that have impacted on the lives of people across the 11 wards in the local government.”
