PDP Not Disintegrating, Saraki Insists
The chairman, Senate committee on environment and ecology, Dr. Bukola Saraki , insisted yesterday that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains solid despite recent developments in the party.
Saraki, dismissed insinuations in certain quarters that the recent face off between the party's chairman, Bamanga Tukur and the state governors would disintegrate the party .
The former governor of Kwara State declared that, "I don't think PDP is disintegrating. The party is still as strong as it has been. I think most of the things we read in the newspapers are not factual. Some of the things you talk about; litigations here and there, that is of normal process.
"I think PDP is just showing that we follow due process. And I think in politics, you would see events and events are not a cause for you to conclude that PDP is disintegrating. We have not done election.
"Maybe after the election, maybe we have done an election and we have been defeated. The last election I think is Ondo State and we came a strong second. So, I don't think PDP is disintegrating".
Saraki spoke with newsmen in Ilorin shortly after he paid a thank you visit to the chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Bashir Salihu, his deputy, Alhaji Abdullahi AbdulHammed and a former Secretary- General of Jama'at Nasril Islam, Justice AbdulKadir Orire.
He thanked his hosts for their prayers and support during the death of his father, Dr Olusola Saraki.
On the Kwara 2013 budget proposals, Saraki charged all arms of government to ensure its full implementation.
"The budget is an intention. I think it is a good budget. It focuses on infrastructure, focuses on security. We just have to ensure on all parts, legislative and executive, we should all work to ensure that it is implemented fully."
