Kwara Government Equips Health Officers with Laptops for Enhanced Service Delivery
According to a news report from Punch, the Kwara State Government, through the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, has provided laptops to all 16 Monitoring and Evaluation Local Government Area Officers in the state, aiming to improve healthcare service efficiency.
At a meeting held in Ilorin, the state capital, Dr. Nusirat Elelu, the Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, described the quarterly gathering as a platform to orientate new Heads of Departments (HODs) on gathering updates from primary healthcare activities in LGAs, identifying challenges, and devising solutions.
Emphasising the importance of equipping Monitoring and Evaluation Officers with necessary tools for improved service delivery, Elelu also commended the HODs and partners for their proactive approach and success in the recent Polio Outbreak Response Campaign. She highlighted the excellent performance of all LGAs in Kwara, attributing it to the teamwork and dedication of health workers across the state.
She emphasised the need for an effective and supportive supervisory plan by the LGAs' team, urging the HODs to ensure that their impact is felt as a team.
The Executive Secretary added that LGAs such as Moro, Asa, Baruten and Kaiama should intensify their support for the nutrition department and programmes.
Elelu charged the HODs and other health workers to ensure that the state health indices are improved before the next campaign, especially, now that the state would soon commence the introduction of Human Papilloma Virus Vaccine into its routine immunisation to prevent girls between the ages of nine years to fourteen years from contracting cervical cancer.
Elelu appreciated all the Monitoring and Evaluation Officers in the state for a job well done during previous immunisation campaigns, and also commended them for ensuring that quality data are provided at all time.
In his goodwill message, the State Coordinator of World Health Organisation, Dr. Emmanuel Eyitayo, hailed the Executive Secretary for being proactive and supportive, adding that he is happy to be in Kwara State and he prayed for a continuous success in all PHC activities.
Speaking on behalf of all HODs and M & E Officers, the Chairperson of all HODs, Hajia Kikelomo Ajibola, appreciated both the management of the Agency and the State government for the exemplary leadership and ensuring that officers possess all the necessary tools to enhance their data quality and productivity.
