ECOWAS youth ambassador hails appointment of Ibrahim as youth minister
The Economic Community of West African States Youth Ambassador, Emmanuel Agida, has hailed Dr. Jamila Ibrahim on her appointment as the Minister of Youth in Nigeria.
He described the appointment as a significant step toward fostering inclusivity and gender equality in the nation's leadership.
“The appointment of Jamila Ibrahim as the first female Minister of Youth Development is a significant step forward in fostering inclusivity and gender equality in the nation's leadership. This significant milestone not only marks a crucial step toward youth empowerment but also highlights the commendable effort of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in recognising and entrusting capable women in key leadership positions,” Agida said in a release on Wednesday.
The PUNCH reports on September 18 that Tinubu appointed Ibrahim to serve as the Minister of Youth.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, disclosed this in a statement titled 'President Tinubu nominated new ministers for federal ministry of youth.'
Agida praised President Tinubu for his foresight in appointing women to key positions in his cabinet, thereby reaffirming the value and capability of women leaders in shaping the future of Nigeria.
“Dr. Ibrahim's appointment as the first female Minister of Youth Development in Nigeria is a milestone in the nation's history and reflects a commitment to gender equality and women's participation in nation-building.
“Ibrahim, with her proven track record and exceptional dedication, has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to sustainable development in Nigeria. Her previous role as the Senior Special Assistant on Sustainable Development Goals to the Governor of Kwara State showcased her visionary approach to sustainable development,” he added.
While describing Ibrahim's extensive experience in sustainable development and youth empowerment as a valuable asset to the ministry, he noted that Ibrahim as the Minister of Youth represents a significant step toward harnessing the immense potential of Nigerian youths and active involvement in the nation's development.
In advancing the cause of youth development in Nigeria and the West African region, he, however, forward to collaborating with the minister through the West Africa Youth Fellowship and the West Africa Youth Summit.
“I look forward to witnessing the positive impact of Ibrahim's tenure in the Ministry of Youth and believe her appointment heralds a new era of youth-focused policies and programs that will empower young Nigerians to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the nation's development,” he said.
