Ijakadi Offa Festival to Re-Unite Indigenes

Date: 2012-12-29

As part of efforts to reunite sons and daughters of Offa, Kwara State, the age long Ijakadi Offa festival of over six hundred year old, has commenced.

The Ojomu of Offa, High Chief Joseph Bayo Kayode Akinola stated this in a chat with Royal Times correspondents in Offa recently. In his words, the present rebirth of Offa kingdom was brought about by the zeal of the Oloffa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Okikiola Esuwoye II, who has been encouraging Offa indigenes both home and abroad to invest in Offa in a bid to generate revenue and to create job opportunities for its citizens.

It would be recalled that the Ijakadi Offa festival committee had earlier unveiled a logo for the fourteen-century Ijakadi festival in other to attract innovation and corporate presence.

Royal Times also reports that the Ijakadi offa festival in Kwara state which will now be included in the list of national festival currently being promoted by the Nigerian Tourism Development cooperation(NTDC) will come with different side attractions and showcase offa cultural heritage to the outside world. The festival which started on 26th December 2012 will terminate on 31th December 2012.

Ijakadi offa festival is administered by the Offa descendant union.
