Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, on Monday, said the state government rehabilitated about 400 classrooms at the basic and senior secondary school levels in 2012.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba, said Ahmed made this known at the inauguration of a new private-sector-driven group of schools - The Adrin Schools.

Ahmed said another set of 200 schools would soon be rehabilitated. He added that his administration would complete the second phase of the rehabilitation of the state School for Special Needs.

The governor commended the founder of the schools for embracing the state government's policy of a virile basic education culture.

Ahmed said, "A child's basic educational development is directly correlated to the foundation laid at the basic level.

"We intend to strengthen the capacity of our Quality Assurance Unit to ensure that all public and private schools adhere to the teaching standards and benchmarks outline in educational policy, in pursuit of ensuring highest standards of teaching and learning in the State's school system."
