The foundation laying ceremony of the multimillion naira Okelele Divisional Police Headquarters in Ilorin, Kwara State was performed yesterday.

The project conceived to beef up security in the area which had for long been served by the Alagbado Police Post, is the initiative of the Ibagun Progressive Union (IPU).

It was during the course of IPU's soliciting for funds from the indigenes of the area that a member of the House of Representatives, Alhaji AbdulGaniyu Cook-Olododo who is an indigene of the area announced that he would include the construction of the facility in his 2022 constituency projects.

Another indigene of Ibagun and the current special adviser on strategy to Kwara State governor, Alhaji Saadu Salahu, who was the supervisory councillor for works in the council in 1995 was the prime mover of the citing of the Ondoko-Okelele Market.

The IPU leadership and the entire people of Okelele/Ibagun community were excited that the new police station will serve as a good complement to Ondoko market.

Speaking at the ceremony, the donor, Hon Cook- Olododo described the ground breaking of the police office project as a milestone in the history of political representation in Ibagun ward and Ilorin Emirate.

He recalled his other interventions in Ibagun ward, including two road projects which he said would soon be commissioned.
