The incident, it was gathered, happened in the wee hours of Sunday at Asunara Ile Kola Compound, off Balogun Fulani, Ilorin.

According to compound sources, the victim was married with children and had battled mental issues for some time.

"She woke up in the middle of the night and went outside the house. But one of the elders of the compound who was awake thought she was going to ease herself.

"But after waiting several minutes for her to return, he went outside to look for her and raised the alarm after his futile search.

"We discovered her corpse inside the well in the morning," the source said preferring not to be named.

When contacted, the Head of Department (HOD), Media and Publicity, Kwara Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, confirmed to Daily Trust that her corpse had been recovered from the well by firemen and handed over to the head of the compound, Alhaji Asunara.

He said the Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, urged everyone to be more vigilant in their neighbourhoods in order to prevent similar occurrences.
