Kwara govt holds mentorship programme for women

Kwara State Government has concluded a one-month intensive mentorship programme for 62 women across the sixteen Local Government areas of the state

The mentorship programme, tagged emerging women in politics and powered by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Engagement, Kaosarah Adeyi, involved presentations from notable female politicians within and outside the state, classes on leadership, public speaking, personal Branding and community development, inter-team contest and competitions, and community development service project.

Participants of the programme, who comprised ladies of various age group, professions and occupations, also gathered resources to refurbish a public primary school in Ila-Oja, Asa Local Government area of Kwara State.

In her statement during the commissioning ceremony, the SSA youth engagement Kaothara Adeyi appreciated the commitment, resilience, focus and cooperation of the participants.

She applauded members of the community for allowing the participants make impact in the lives of the young people.

At the closing ceremony of the programme, First Lady of Kwara State Ambassador Dr Mrs Olufolake Abdulrazaq expressed her happiness and satisfaction on the quality of achievements and exploits of the participants.

She recommended that the EWIP mentorship sessions should be a continuous programme as it will help women to build capacity for sustainable development.

The programme coordinator, Shamsudeen Aderoju, said the key activities of the programme included presentations, project pitch, contests, leadership and governance simulation.

The graduating participants commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's administration for improving their lives and promised to utilize every bit of the lessons learned.

Mentors in the programme include Dr Jamila Bio, SSA SDGs; Mrs Toyosi Thomas, SSA NGO; Barr Rabi Manch, SSA Legal to Kaduna State Governor; Mrs Abiodun Essiet, SA to the Chairman, AMAC, Abuja; Mrs Saadatu Modibo Kawu, Hon Commissioner for Education, Kwara State; and Dr Angel Adelaja-Kuye, SA Agriculture to Ogun State Governor.
