Two warring factions of APC hold parallel ward congresses in Kwara

The two major warring factions of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kwara State, held their separate ward congresses without any incident recorded across the 193 wards of the state.

On the side of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq's faction, new ward party executives, emerged through consensus and affirmation.

The exercise, described as hugely successful and carnival like, witnessed a large turnout of party members at various designated venues.

From Oro in Kwara South, to Gwanara in Kwara North and Adewole and Asa in Kwara Central Senatorial District, members unanimously chose core loyalists of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to lead the party at the ward level citing the need for harmony, peace and the giant strides of the present administration and its increasing popularity among the masses in the last two years.

The governor's faction adopted a consensus arrangement across the state as earlier indicated, with officials announcing nominations of contenders and delegates affirming their acceptance of same.

DAILY POST reports that the exercise, was preceded by various intra party negotiations and consensus building among stakeholders to arrive at a peaceful and rancour free ward congresses.

Governor Abdulrazaq, commended the process describing it as " Hugely successful, credible and peaceful."

The state caretaker committe of the party, Abdullahi Samari, said" Our men went to the field with the objective of consensus all through as a preference that will further unite the APC family and exactly that is what we had today."

He described the exercise as peaceful, credible and truly representative of the wishes of the people and stakeholders.

On its part, the embattled Information Minister, Lai Mohammed and Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa's faction in the party, also held its own ward congresses in the 193 wards of the state.

A chieftain of the party and loyalist of the Information Minister, Alhaji Tunde Mohammed, described the exercise as successful and peaceful.

"Everything was peaceful and perfect, we elected our own ward executives in all the 193 wards and all the names have been submitted to the state party secretariat in Ilorin," he added.
