Kwara CJ: Labour Disowns JUSUN Strike
Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) yesterday disowned the industrial action embarked upon by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) Kwara State, branch over the Supreme Court judgement reinstating the Chief Judge (CJ) of the state.
JUSUN's National Publicity Secretary and member of NLC's National Executive Committee (NEC), Comrade Marwan Mustapha, told LEADERSHIP during an exclusive chat that the decision of the state chapter of the union to go on strike was without the blessing of the national body of the union.
He said the national body of the union will not tolerate anyone who will want to drag the union in a mud.
The union leader said as a union in the court, "we stand by the decision of the apex court which deemed it fit to reinstate the CJ therefore we want to say that anyone who has anything with her should be personal."
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state yesterday criticized the state's chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) over its columns on the reinstatement of Justice Elelu.
The PDP, in a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Alhaji Mas'ud Adebimpe, said that the administration of the immediate past governor of the state, Dr. Bukola Saraki, was a blessing to the state, adding that it had "no regrets whatsoever on the Supreme Court judgement".
In a related development, the striking judicial workers have explained why they were opposed to the return of the reinstated Chief Judge of the state, Justice Raliat Habeeb-Elelu.
Addressing a press conference in Ilorin, the state capital, yesterday, the chairperson of the state branch of Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JSUN), Mrs. Folake Laaro accused the chief judge of high-handedness among others.
