Immortalise late Abdulrazaq, GHS old boys tell Kwara

Date: 2020-08-04

The old students of the Government High School, Ilorin, have called on the Kwara State Government to immortalise the late Abdulganiyu Abdulrazaq by naming an institution after him.

The President of the Government High School Old Students Association, Alhaji Raji Mohammed, made the appeal on Sunday at a fidau organised for the late lawyer, who died last Saturday at the age of 93.

Mohammed pointed out that the late Abdulrazaq made a lot of contributions to Nigeria and particularly, Kwara State.

He said, "AGF Abdulrazaq established Government High School known then as Ilorin College in 1967 when he realised that students who qualified for admission to secondary schools could not be admitted in the existing secondary schools in Ilorin then. He also opened up Adewole which accommodated the first government estate in Kwara State by constructing Agbo-oba-Surulere Road.

"What we are saying is that a tangible thing should be named after him such as a big institution in the state to show his love for education. We have Kwara State Polytechnic that can be named after him, we have college of education that can be named after him, among others."
