Labourer Docked over Girl's Disappearance
A labourer, segun Atolagbe, 24 of Agata Area, Ganmo has been dragged before an Ilorin magistrate court over an alleged abduction of a teenage girl.
A complainant, DSP Ayo Salami of Ganmo village was said to have reported at the police station on September 21, 2012 that his wife, Mrs. Ayo Salami of the same area told him that his two daughters; Janet and Gbemisola left his house for Agata Primary School, Ganmo.
The complainant reported that on their way to the school, the accused lured Janet, 14 to his house and kept her in his room from 08:30am to 4:00pm and then took her to an unknown destination, since when her where about has not been known.
However, the accused denied the allegation, claiming that they are neighbours and that the girl was his girlfriend.
The accused informed the court that he does not know the whereabouts of the girl and that she was not with him.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor, Inspector Godwin Azua, submitted that although the accused person pleaded not guilty, the alleged offence is not ordinarily bailable since the girl's where about remains unknown.
Besides, Azua prayed the court for another date pending the outcome of police investigations on the matter.
Ruling magistrate Akorede who presided over the case granted the accused bail at the sum of N10, 000 and two sureties, each in the like sum.
She added that the sureties must be residents of the same neighbour with the accused person.
The case was adjourned to October 25 for further mention.
