We'll step on toes to restore Kwara - Speaker, Danladi

Date: 2019-07-03

The Speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Yakubu Danladi, has implored monarchs in the state to rebuke corrupt Kwarans seeking refuge under their cover in the bid to prevent or escape justice for corrupt practices.

He gave the admonition according to a statement by his media aide, Ibrahim Sheriff during his courtesy visit to the monarchs in Baruteen Local Government of the state.

During the visit, which was part of his constituency tour of the Local Government, the Speaker educated his constituents, saying, "There is no way we can bring good governance without sanitizing the system.

"The state is losing huge resources to ghost workers, almost 80 percent of our federal government allocations are catering for wage bill and we cannot sanitize this system without stepping on toes," he stated.

He added tht "they will start running to you once they are caught, as our fathers, please rebuke them whenever they come. They are sabotaging our developmental strides."

Danladi said he could not afford to fail, because "it means my generation has failed" adding that" I am prepared to do all within my capacity to ensure the youth constituency which I represent did not fail, but your support and prayers are needed for us to succeed"

Emir of Ilesha Baruba, Professor Halidu Abubakar, and his Yashikira counterpart, Alhaji Umar Seriki Usman, charged the Speaker on sincerity and responsiveness to the people's plight to gain public trust.

They warned strongly against arrogance in power and urged political office holders to hold the people in high esteem, saying "once you are sincere, and show serious commitment to the plight of the people, they will have confidence in you."
