Kwara Government Distributes Blood Banks to 21 Hospitals
The Kwara Government on Monday in Ilorin, donated blood banks and other medical equipment to 21 hospitals in the state.
On the occasion, the Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Abdul Kayode, said the aim was to improve emergency services in all aspects of healthcare.
"It is worthy of note that the recipient hospitals are spread across the state in each senatorial district.
"This comprises all health facilities including specialist hospitals, general hospitals, cottage and comprehensive hospitals," he said.
Kayode appealed to the people to donate blood for use during emergencies.
According to him, the presentation of medical equipment and instruments to the Children Specialist Hospital, Igboro, is to upgrade facilities in the hospital to meet the training requirements for interns.
"More equipment including beds, bedding, oxygen concentrators, drip stands and office furniture are being released to the hospital to complement the existing ones," he said.
Kayode also said that 10 consultants had been employed, adding that the ongoing rehabilitation of five general hospitals at Ilorin, Offa, Omu Aran, Kiama and Share, was nearing completion.
Dr Yakubu Folorunsho, Chief Medical Director (CMD) Share, said that the donation was a welcome development, which would provide better health service for the people. (NAN)
