Kwara United's Abubakar Bala aims repeat of 2017 Federation Cup feat

Date: 2018-09-27

The former Ikon Allah gaffer is keen to replicate his success in the national championship this year with the Harmony Warriors.

Kwara United head coach Abubakar Bala has revealed his intentions to steer his side to Federation Cup glory this year following a 5-1 bashing of Abia Warriors.

Segun Alebiosu's hat-trick inspired the Ilorin based side past nine-man Uchendu Warriors t at the Agege Stadium.

And Bala, who led Niger Tornadoes to a topflight safety plus a Federation Cup second place finish last year, is poised to replicate the same feat this term with the Harmony Warriors.

Emmanuel Deutsch unmoved despite Abia Warriors’ humiliation by Kwara United

"It was a very nice performance though Abia Warriors gave us a good fight," Bala told Goal.

"Abia Warriors gave us a difficult game in the first half but we were able to create more chances in the second half and took some of them.

"We are working hard to build a formidable team. It is only less than a year we've been together and I am quite happy with their form and cooperation. They are really improving with every game and playing to instructions. I am excited by their character and determination.

"We want to create a lot of chances in every match we are going to play and convert as many as possible. I think if the team continue like this, I can repeat what I did last year with Niger Tornadoes.

"I believe it is possible because of the quality of players we have. The players want to succeed too and each stage is different from the other. We will approach every game as they come and make sure we come out victorious."

Bala and his boys will continue their campaign against Kano Pillars on Wednesday and later take on Rivers United on Friday at the Lagos Centre.
