The Kwara State Government yesterday said it was ready to find a lasting solution to land disputes.

The chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Hajia Sara Nike Adebayo, stated this in Ilorin at the opening of a two-day workshop on effective conflict resolution on land matters in local government administration.

She said her commission had received hundreds of petitions on land matters.

"You will all agree with me that land matter always cause conflicts and the commission has received hundreds of petitions on the matter which was why we felt we should organise this workshop.

"We should also know that outcome of litigation maybe favourable to the government and affect the people. We want such to be address amicably without litigation," she said. She said the training was confirmation of government's genuine commitment to the welfare, development and improvement of the staff to ensure optimal performance.

"We are introducing participants to the concept of conflicts and resolution, practical conflict resolution techniques as well as how to enhance promotion and sustainability of conflict resolution on land matters," she said. Thirty two local government administrators, two from each local government of the state, participated in the training.
