BEING TEXT OF ADDRESS DELIVERED BY THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF YAMAN SUPPORT GROUP, HON. GEORGE O.TOWOJU AT A SOLIDARITY RALLY FOR PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI GCFR HELD IN ILORIN, KWARA STATE TODAY 26TH JULY 2018.

Courtesies,

Gentlemen of the press, it is with great pleasure and sense of patriotism that we stand bold and firm today to make our positions known as concern citizens of this great nation in reaction to the unhealthy political situation in the country. You will agree with me that Nigerians woke on Tuesday 25th July 2016 to witness yet another desperate attempt to inflict colossus injury on the nation's nascent democracy by some politicians whose major concern is politics of selfish interest, politics of oppression, suppression and subjugation of the entire Nigerian citizens.

While is a truism that it is the constitutional right of individual to express their Right and Freedom of Association of political party at all times, it is also expected that members of the Legislative Arm of government will always demonstrate high level of patriotism in their dealings by putting national interest first at all times.

However, the defection of some members of the National Assembly (Senators and Honourable Members of the Federal House of Representatives ) from the All Progressives Congress, (APC) is one of the desperate attempt of Nigeria's Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki CON and his co-travelers to continue to embark on undeserving political negotiations and mortgaging the genuine interest of the masses for their personal and individual gains.

Haven found their political bargains as unwarranted, frivolous, condemnable, barbaric and uncharitable to the overall interest of the entire Nigerian population, it is the resolution of this great movement to pass votes of no confidence on the national assembly under the leadership of Senate President Bukola Saraki for their ill-political characters capable of initiating political disunity and derailing the executive arms of government from implementing masses oriented policies/programmes.

We hereby call on Dr. Bukola Saraki to make his political party membership known to Nigerians and resign his appointment as the Senate President with immediate effect in order to allow for better legislative process in the interest of the masses. It is noteworthy to emphasise on the fact that in his reaction to the developments, the President noted that none of the defecting federal lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had any specific grievances against him or the government he leads; neither did he harbour anything against any of them.

"As the saying goes, all politics is local. We understand that some of the distinguished and honourable lawmakers have issues with their home states, especially on zoning which bars some of them from seeking another term in their constituencies," he said.

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his total commitment to the values of democracy, freedom of choice as well as total willingness to work with all members of the National Assembly, irrespective of their political party, for the benefit of the nation. We also implore the Senate President to desist from politics of deceit and assassination of character of constituted authorities in pursuant of cheap publicity, undeserving empathy from members of the public and international community as well as personal political gains. The courage and steadfastness of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the chairmanship of Comrade Adams Oshiomole is highly commended even as we pledge our unalloyed support and commitment to the Nigeria Project towards ensuring peace, unity and progress of the nation.

We hereby express our support for Alhaji Shuaib Yaman Abdullahi's governorship ambition in 2019 in Kwara State in order to restore the lost glory of the state and rejuvenate the economic potential and wellbeing of the citizens.

We also declare our total support to President Muhammadu Buhari's re-election bid and we call on men and women of goodwill and conscience to rally round Mr. President in order to salvage the nation from the current political turbulence and always stand by the oppressed so that we can together build a virile and prosperous Nigeria. Thank you for your kind attention and God bless you all.
