EZE CHARGES KWARA UNITED TO RE-ENACT TEST GAMES RESULTS

Date: 2018-07-14

Kwara United's Chidiebere Eze has challenged his teammates to reproduce their impressive performance against Osun United for the rest of their season's fixtures.

The Harmony Warriors got a win and a draw from their doubleheader test games played last Saturday and Tuesday against the Omoluabi Giants in Oshogbo and Ilorin respectively.

The NPFL side were held to a goalless draw by Duke Udi's men in the first game played at the Kwara State Sports Complex, Ilorin last weekend before Shamsudeen Ashimu's 56th-minute effort handed them a priceless victory at the Oshogbo Township Stadium on Tuesday.

Eze, a goalkeeper with the premier league campaigner praised the determined zeal of his teammates who made good their vow to inflict a home defeat on their host in the second leg of the friendly tie and admonished them to maintain the same spirits in their remainder of the league season.

"It was a tough encounter in Oshogbo I must confess to you because they had already held us to a draw at home and they were thinking we would be run over at their home," Eze told Goal.

"It took a concerted effort from us to nick the vital win we recorded in Oshogbo. They were a good side and they showed that with the way the repelled all that we did to ensure that we score against them in front of our fans. We didn't allow the result in Ilorin to affect us ahead of the return leg and we achieved our objective.

"I could see from my teammates the hunger and the desire to win even while playing away from home and we are able to repeat this same mentality in the 14 remaining games we won't have any problem with relegation zone at all. We need to play as one and try to reduce our errors.

"We might not have started the season very well but recent results showed that Kwara United have what it takes to remain in the top flight. We can't afford to let slip this golden opportunity that our coach (Abubakar Bala) has presented to us.

"The remaining league matches will be tough because every club will either be striving to fight against escaping relegation zone or wanting to go for the league title. We must take all games seriously and ensure that we do not allow our fans and supporters to go through heartbreak at the end of the season."

Kwara United will host Akwa United when the league restarts on July 18 with the resolve to pick the maximum points solely on their minds as they are presently only a point from the drop zone.
