BEING TEXT OF ADDRESS DELIVERED BY THE CHAIRMAN KWARA STATE ARABIC EDUCATION BOARD, SHEIKH DR. ABDULKADIR OBA-SOLAGBERU AT THE GRAND FINALE OF THE 2017 STATE QURANIC RECITATION COMPETITION TODAY SATURDAY 30TH DECEMBER 2017

Date: 2018-01-01

Courtesies

I am highly delighted and thankful to Almighty Allah for making it a reality to witness the successful completion of yet another edition of the annual Quranic recitation competition in our dear state which has continue to make significant impact in the lives of our teeming youths.

Let me quickly appreciate the Kwara State Government under the leadership of our amiable Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji (Dr) Abdulfatah Ahmed for the successful hosting of the 31st National Quranic Recitation Competition tagged: Kwara 2017.

We are indeed grateful for your genuine commitment towards uplifting the standard of Arabic education in the State through the payment of examination fees for final year students of Arabic schools across the state.

Although, we understand the predicaments responsible for the state government's inability to release fund for the examinations in 2016 due to the current global economic recession, but we hope that necessary actions would be taken towards ameliorating the situation for better in coming years (Inshaa Allah).

In addition, I wish to re-emphasize on the need for our dear Governor to kindly consider the construction of a befitting Quranic Memorization Centre in the state as not only highly desirable but also long overdue as he promised during the closing ceremonies of 31st National Quranic recitation competition held in Ilorin on Saturday February 11, 2017.

However, it is pertinent to felicitate with the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Council, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, for the numerous growth and development attracted to the Ilorin emirate and Kwara state at large since his enthronement as the 11th Emir of Ilorin some 22 years ago. May Almighty Allah continue to grant you sound health and wisdom to continue to steer the affairs of the emirate.

Let me also thank the Kwara State Committee on Quranic memorization for their relentless and consistent efforts in sustaining the preservation of Quranic education among our children and wards.

Finally, I hereby congratulate the winners in the just concluded contest and urge contingent that shall be representing Kwara State at the Katsina 2018 National Quranic Recitation competition to be good ambassadors of the state with excellent performance.

We shall continue to be proud of you always. Thank you for your kind attention and God bless you.
