Be resolute for better, just society, Kwara Speaker charges Nigerians

As the world celebrates the new year 2018, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ali Ahmad has enjoined Nigerians to be resolute in their yearnings for a better and just society.

He also tasked governments to come up with good policies and programmes that would enhance Nigerians' wellbeing and make their lives more meaningful.

The Speaker gave the charge in a new year message issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Shuaib Abdulkadir in Ilorin today, noting that there was no doubt that the country is going through a turbulent period.

Ahmad said there is no gainsaying that the citizens deserve more than what they are currently getting from government.

He, however, commended Nigerians' patriotism inspite of several challenges being experienced, adding that it could only get better with time and prayers.

The Speaker promised that as the people's representatives, the members of the State House of Assembly would further strengthen their cordial relationship with the state government to ensure that people-oriented policies and programmes are implemented.

He also pledged that the House would remain determined and dedicated in making laws that would have positive impact in the society, but called for continuous support and cooperation of the people.

While praying that the year 2018 be prosperous for Nigerians, he expressed hope that it would herald several good things in people's lives with improved quality of life.
