Landmark varsity gets ACCA accreditation

Date: 2017-11-02

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has accredited the B.Sc Accounting course of the Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara State, as a certified accounting programme.

The letter of accreditation was contained in the Certificate of Exemption signed by the Executive Director-Strategy and Development, Mr Allan Hatfield and awarded to the institution, last Friday.

The New Accreditations Officer, Mr Jason Forbes, in his letter accompanying the certificate, disclosed that Landmark University graduates from 2017 to 2021 would be exempted from six of the 14-modules requirement for the ACCA professional certification.

The six modules included Paper 1-5 and Paper 7, following their assessment with the cohort courses in the Landmark University's Accounting programme, while the other accompanying documents were the association's official logo and recommended usage format by the institution.

Receiving the certificate in his office, Vice-Chancellor of Landmark University, Professor Adeniyi Olayanju, recalled the performance of Mr Ezekiel Oladiran who, as a 400-Level student in the Department of Accounting and Finance, sat for the December 2016 ACCA examinations and emerged overall 3rd best in the country.

The university administrator said the achievement was an indication that the department was operating within a global benchmark in terms of teaching and research, adding that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed ACCA was in the right direction to add value to the high-quality education of the institution.

Noting other milestones of the university, such as her acceptance into the Oracle Academy, signing of MoU with IITA and NASRDA among others, Professor Olayanju restated the institution's commitment to helping its graduates launch their careers and endowing them with a stronger employability status.

Head of Accounting and Finance Department, Dr Tony Nwanji, appreciated the university management for the support towards the milestone, assuring that the department was not resting on its laurels, but making frantic efforts to further gain exemption from Paper F6 (Auditing), F8 (Taxation) and F9 (Financial Management).
