Ilorin Truly a Home of Victory as F/Eagles Beat Tanzania 2-0
Flying Eagles of Nigeria on Sunday at the Kwara state stadium complex in Ilorin walloped the Ngorogoro Heroes of Tanzania 2-0 to qualify for the third round of the qualifier matches for the African Youths Championship.
The Eagles with the victory edged out the Heroes from the contest on 4-1 goals' aggregate having defeated the team in Tanzania 2-1 in the first leg of their matches.
Abduljeleel Ajagun scored the first goal in the 14th minutes of the game.
A flying header by Bright Ejike that slipped into the net of the Tanzanians was disallowed by the referee, Jerry Yekeh who ruled Ejike's effort off side.
The Eagles however got the opportunity to secure their second goal when Sunana Ramadan defended a free kick with his hand at the 64th minute.
The ensuing penalty was skillfully taken by Gero Abdullahi to the far corner of Salum's left while the keeper dived to the right.
The Ngorogoros were not however deterred by the scores as they maintained the spirit with which they started the game just as the Flying Eagles were also putting more effort to increase the tally but the scores stood at the 2-0 till the final whistle was blown.
Jacob Mckenson, the coach of the Tanzanians acknowledged the superiority of the Eagles in the match but commended the performance of his boys.
