Foundation solicit supports for Orphans

Date: 2017-07-03

The Chairman of the Islamic Orphanage Foundation, (IOF), Architect Seifullahi Alege, has lamented over the poor financial status of the foundation which has made it difficult for the completion of its Centre due to the recession affecting all facets of the nation's economy.

The Chairman of the foundation stated this on Saturday during the 2017 annual Orphanage Day held at the IEDPU national secretariat, Ilorin, urging government at all levels to legislate law that will make adequate provision for Orphans and widows in the society.

He added that the foundation is currently facing serious financial crises which prompted the group to cry-out and borrow the sum of N1.1 million in order to settle school fees bill of orphans under it care.

According to him, "I wish to inform the general public that 276 children are currently under our care out of which 74 of them are in tertiary institutions all over the country while seven are receiving training in different professions of which four of them will be empowered today. " Arch. Alege further stressed that "As at today which marks the end of our year and closure of account for the year 1438/2017, our total income is N 3, 360, 840 and our total expenses is N 3,110, 510 giving us balance of N 250, 330.

"We seize this opportunity to appeal to the general public to assist in buying equipment/working tools for our children that will be graduating from their training from time to time. As well as to provide funds for their take-off such as renting shops and working capital."

The group however maintained that "Expenses on other areas like health, clothing and accommodation cannot be overlooked as well. We also wish to commence training for our children in different categories to further improve them in moral and academics such as JSS 3, SS 3, JAMB coaching, gifted school examinations and tertiary programmes."

"I wish to mention that we lost one of our orphans on the first day of Ramadan. His name is Sulyman AbdulQuadri Wura, a final year student of the department of Computer Science at the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin", he added.

He therefore expressed confidence that, "We are not disturbed at all with the amount available for our reliance is in Allah who have made you our major stakeholders".
