Gov Ahmed Flags Off N2.3b dualization of Kulende-UITH-Oke-Ose road project
Speaking at the flag off ceremony on the federally owned 9km road, Governor Ahmed noted that the project reflects his administration's commitment to implement major infrastructural projects, boost commercial activities across the state and uplift the people.
He noted that the State's intervention on the road, validates government's responsiveness to the plight of motorists, noting that the tremendous population growth witnessed in the metropolis has led to increased pressure on infrastructure.
Governor Ahmed assured all affected property owners by the dualization that the government will not delay in compensating them once all necessary assessments are completed.
According to him, the State government will ensure that the project and others across the State are executed in accordance with the design specifications and program of work.
The governor also called on the Federal Government to refund the monies expended by the state government on the road and others designated as federally-owned across the state. He noted that the refund will ensure the state Government have additional funds to invest on more roads and other people-oriented projects across the state.
Earlier in his address, the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Aro Yahaya recalled that in 2012, the State Government, as a temporary measure, awarded and funded the contract for the expansion of the road from Kulende junction to Oyun-bridge to reduce the inconvenience experienced by commuters and motorists plying the route
Alhaji Yahaya disclosed that the dualization has a completion period of 18 months and urged both the contractor and the consultant to justify the confidence reposed in them by the State government.
