PFN urges parental mentoring to arrest moral decadence among youths

Date: 2017-02-26

A Christian cleric and Chairman, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Omu-Aran Chapter in Kwara, Pastor David Omorinoye has identified lack of parental care and mentoring as one of the factors responsible for moral decadence particularly among youths in the country.

Omorinoye said in Omu-Aran, on Saturday that parents were no longer committed to their responsibilities to their children and wards as a result of their crave for money. "It has become imperative for parents to instill discipline and good moral upbringing in their wards and children for them to be useful to the society.

"Parents should dedicate substantial hours to educating their wards on good morals and values as future leaders," the cleric, a former Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Irepodun Local Government Area, said.

He regretted that most parents were currently preoccupied with socio-economic activities and daily survival at the expense of molding their wards for a better future.

Orimoloye also blamed failure by couples to respect marriage vows and tenets of their religions on incessant marriage dissolution which, he noted, was responsible for the prevalent indecent acts, crimes and insecurity in the country.

"Experience has shown that majority of the perpetrators of these dastardly acts of kidnapping, insurgency, ritual killings and rape are children of broken homes.

"So, there are lots of expectations from parents to redouble their efforts and be more committed to their parental responsibility for the nation's growth, progress and development," he said.

Omorinoye, who pastors the Bible Faith Evangelical Mission, Omu-Aran, urged the womenfolk to imbibe the culture of uprightness and selflessness to attract God's favour as they continue to nurture their children.

"Your role as mothers of the nation transcends cooking and taking care of the homes ... it covers all the spheres of life. "That is why you need to redouble your efforts to be good examples in the society." Bald Hair Hymns Imbibe Lack Marri
