Help constituents through recession, Saraki urges lawmakers

Date: 2016-12-13

Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has tasked members of the national and state assemblies to look beyond the objectives of making laws and focus on issues and steps that would enhance the socio-economic well being of Nigerians and remove the burden of the current economic recession, as Nigerians are preparing for the end of the year.

Speaking at the empowerment programme/launching of RIB Foundation and 50th birthday ceremony of Senator Rafiu Ibrahim at Offa, Kwara State, Saraki said the new directive became necessary because of the need to find ways of addressing the tough economic situation in the country. Saraki Saraki, who commended the bold initiative of the senator for the promise to replicate the Senate President's empowerment, said:

"As we move to the end of the year and prepare for 2017, we must begin to address how to empower our people and create gainful and qualitative jobs for them."

Senator Rafiu Ibrahim empowered over 3000 members of his constituents across all categories with various acquisition skills and empowerment items worth about N1 billion to commemorate the three-in-one ceremony. Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State, other senators and traditional rulers from Kwara South were in attendance.
