Gov commissions asphalt plant, orders massive construction of roads across Kwara

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, on Friday, commissioned Kwara State government's asphalt plant, and directed the state Ministry of Works and Transport to immediately commence rehabilitation of major roads across the state to reduce hardship faced by road users and ease movement of people and goods.

Speaking during the commissioning, the governor noted that the plant was set up to address and ease maintenance and construction of roads in the state, having recognized that asphalt is a major requirement.

According to him, the asphalt plant, which has the capacity of 25 tons per hour, is expected to substantially reduce the cost of road maintenance and provide employment for professionals and artisans who will be employed at the plant to execute road projects in the state.

A statement by, Senior Special Assistant, Media and Communications, Government House,Ilorin, Dr Akorede, quoted the governor as saying the plant will boost revenue generation, as it will be leased out to contractors and other users within and outside Kwara, stressing that the plant has been tested and found to be of the highest quality.

Ahmed reiterated his commitment to ensuring that all inherited road projects and those initiated by his administration are completed before the end of his tenure.
