Rore community lauds Kwara Govt.'s rural road rehabilitation

Date: 2016-08-22

The indigenes of Rore in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara, have commended the state government for developing communities through its Rural Road Integration Scheme a priority.

Rev. Joel Adeniran, the President, Rore Development Association (RDA), gave the commendation during a stakeholders meeting in Rore on Sunday.

Adeniran said the prompt completion of the Ipetu-Rore-Arandun road project was a good pointer to the government's intervention impacting the rural communities. He said the timely completion of the road was a fulfillment of the government's promise to be sensitive to the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the communities.

He noted that the road's completion would ensure the smooth flow of vehicular and human movement, thereby improving the people's socio-economic life.

"This government's kind gesture is unprecedented, well appreciated and significant in the history of our community.

"No amount of word could express the feeling of the people to the present administration led by Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed. "The road is an investment eye opener and a socio-economic booster capable of improving the wellbeing of the people of the community," Adeniran said. The RDA president also used the opportunity to solicit for the location of more government establishment in the community.

He called for the improvement of infrastructure for education and healthcare services. Adesina appealed for the upgrading of the town's traditional ruler, Oba Ezekiel Oyewole, from fourth class to second class. Contributing, Oyewole, thanked the government for given adequate consideration to the community in its rural integration initiative.

He pledged that the people of the community would reciprocate the gesture by being selfless and proactive in contributing their quota to promoting government's activities in the area. The monarch solicited for more political appointments and positions for the community's indigenes.

He also urged the government to give more attention to the development of agriculture both as a profession and an enterprise at the grassroots. This, according to him, will lend credence to the government's rural integration drive aimed at fighting unemployment, hunger and poverty. (NAN)
