'I feel like weeping each time I visit NYSC Orientation Camp' ... as NUJ laud KWSG
    
The Kwara state Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Wednesday said he almost wept any time he visited the state National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp at Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area of the state.
The governor made the statement during the National Delegate Convention of the Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) held at the Abubakar Olusola Saraki Pen House (NUJ) press centre, Ilorin.
Ahmed said, "each time I went there and I saw a lot of youths with various certificates of their disciplines, I felt like weeping and say to myself what will become of these youths after their NYSC programme".
The state Commissioner for Youth, Sport Development, Pharmacist Kale Ayo who represented the governor at the event enjoined all Nigerians to engage the youths profitably.
He added, "Nigeria lays more emphasis on diversification of the nation's economy, but no preparation for the diversification we have been talking about". Alhaji Abdulfatah while assuring the people of various developmental programmes to further improve the lives of the youths, said, "we will not leave any stone unturned to ensure the wellbeing of our people". The governor, however appreciated the SWAN for developing sporting activities in the state.
In his remark, the National President, NUJ, Alhaji AbdulWaheed Odusile commended Governor Abdulfatah for creating the atmosphere for sporting activities, especially his support for the SWAN national delegate in the state. The Vice President, NUJ 'D' zone, Mr Wilson Bako who represented the NUJ national president appreciated the governor for various support given to NUJ and its members in the state.
While congratulating all SWAN members for the successful hosting of the convention , he told journalists to always abide by the constitution. He also appealed to all SWAN members and other invited guests in the state for peaceful conduct of the exercise.
