An alumnus of the University of Ilorin and a Research Associate and Biostatistician at the University of Calgary, Canada, Mr. Mubasiru Asafe Lamidi, has donated books on various academic disciplines to the University of Ilorin. The items, which include 798 Volumes of 48 different titles ranging from Economics, Statistics, Accounting, Banking to Finance, were presented to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON), in his office penultimate Thursday (June 9, 2016) by the representative of the donor and facilitator of the donation, Dr. W. B. Yahaya.

In his remarks, Dr. Yahaya explained that the books were donated as part of the contribution of Mr. Lamidi to his alma mater. He also disclosed that the donor is presently facilitating the signing of a partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Ilorin and the University of Calgary, Canada. The Vice-Chancellor, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. A. Y. Abdulkareem, commended the donor for the "thoughtful and kind gesture" and for remembering his Alma Mater. Prof. Ambali said that the University is proud of Mr. Lamidi, describing him as its worthy ambassador.

He expressed the hope that the other alumni of the University would look back and give to their alma mater, while assuring that the books would be used effectively. The books presentation was witnessed by the University Librarian, Dr. Joseph Omoniyi; the Deputy Bursar, Mr. O. Dere and the Dean of Physical Sciences, Prof. I. A. Adimula.
