Kwara Governor advocates redesign of nation's education sector
Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has advocated the review of the current method of instruction in schools to make it twenty-first century compliant.
Similarly, the Governor called for a proper design of the nation's education sector to fit into human capital needs of the country.
Governor Ahmed made the calls when he received the Founder, Albino Foundation, Mr. Jake Apelle at the Government House, Ilorin. The Governor promised to make the International Vocation Centre, Ajase-Ipo, a citadel to train people hands-on, in order to make Nigeria a net exporter of human capital instead of an importer.
Governor Ahmed, who expressed concerns over the grow rate of out-of-school children in Nigeria, assured residents of the state that his government would continue to put measures in place that would improve accessibility and affordability of schools to children.
He called for support and partnership from various stakeholders in the education sector to make education more inclusive in the state. Earlier in his remarks, the Founder, Albino Foundation, Mr. Jake Apelle had commended the state government for placing a high premium on education. Mr. Apelle, who said he was impressed with the proactive measures of the government promised to support the state with his foundation.
