Kwara athletes brace up for Table tennis, volleyball and tennis tourneys
Three Kwara state teams will join their counterpart across the nation to participate in table tennis, volleyball and tennis championships in two different cities.
A 14-man table tennis squad, led by a member of the State Table Tennis Association, Barrister Yakub Orisokoko are on their way to Abuja to feature in the Aso National Table Tennis Championship which begins today.
The squad, made up of 12 players and one coach will feature in the Senior, Junior and Cadet events that will end on Sunday. Also, the state female volleyball team are on their way to Abeokuta to take part in the National Volleyball Open Championship that will begin today and end on Sunday.
The state female volleyball team conspiring of 10 players and a coach are the defending champions of the Championship. Similarly, four male state tennis players will today, leave for Abuja for the First Bayak Tennis Championship that will end on 14th of this month.
Addressing the players before their departure in Ilorin, the State Director of Sports, Coach Tunde Kazeem charged them to put up brilliant performances in their various events. Coach Kazeem stated that the State government would support any association that makes the state proud in various championship.
