A middle ade man, whose identity could not be ascertained, Friday, narrowly escaped death at Government Secondary School Ilorin (GSS) round-about along old-Jebba road, Ilorin, Kwara State.

The man, who appeared to be a civil servant was involved in an accident when his motorbike hit a commercial vehicle.

An eyewitness account said that the incident occurred when the commercial driver stopped for another vehicle that was negotiating the round-about when the motorbike hit the vehicle from the back.

It was gathered that the man was on an official assignment when the accident ocurred and sustained serious various levels of injuries, including head and leg fracture.

The man who laid unconscious for almost 30 minutes could not get help from those around, including the traffic control officers on duty, who claimed it not their responsibility was to assist accident victims but "just to control traffic"

It took the Road Safety Corps several minutes before they could get to the scene of the accident.

The victim was later rushed to University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital for medical treatment by the Road Safety Corps.
