Kwara Football Academy Second to None, Says Adepoju
Ex- International and outgoing Administrator of the Kwara Football Academy (KFA) Mr. Mutiu Adepoju has described the academy as second to none in the country, in terms of facilities.
The Kwara State government at the weekend approved the appointment of Mr. Sulyman Ayantola as the acting administrator of the academy. Adepoju disclosed this in Ilorin at the weekend while speaking with sportswriters at the premises of KFA in Ilorin.
According to him, "The players are good and unlike other academies that rent pitches to play, we have excellent pitches here and hostels".
He explained that he did his best during his two year contract and would want to be remembered as someone who came and did his bit.
"I worked 200 per cent, day and night as if my life depends on it. I have my name at stake and the kids are looking up to me. I also had to live to expectations of the owners, Harmony Holdings".
He also revealed that among the success story of stay was getting accreditation for the students to write the West African Examination Council (WAEC) Senior Secondary Examination.
"Prior to now the exams were written at other schools but now we have accreditation. We have also secured for the junior secondary and they are expected to write at the academy from this year. We also won the State league and FA Cup", he added.
He expressed hope that the academy's player, Danladi Sulyman, who is in Turkey on trials would be able to secure a contract by July this year.
Adepoju suggested that some facilities at the centre need to be upgraded and money should also be set aside for the players to feature in foreign tournaments. KFA was set up by the Kwara Sate Government in 2007 with the mandate to nurture and develop young footballers. It had former Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Clemens Westerhof as its inaugural administrator.
