"Evolve internal solution to security challenges" - Alhaji Saka Isau

Date: 2012-06-25

A former top official of the Kwara state government has advised the federal government to evolve internal solution to address the current security challenges facing the country.

Alhaji Saka Isau, a former Secretary to the Kwara state government, gave the advice in Ilorin at the monthly lecture organised by the Radio Kwara chapel of the NUJ.

Isau, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), also condemned calls for external assistance to resolve the security challenges  and called for dialogue between the federal government and the aggrieved people.

"The call for external assistance in the nation's affairs will amount to colonialism." Isau, who is also the Vice Chairman, Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc, noted that external intervention in the nation's problem would further worsen the situation.

He also condemned the wave of bombings in the country and urged the security agencies to be proactive in addressing the challenges.

On the new electricity tariff, Isau, who was also a former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Kwara, explained that it was aimed at attracting foreign investors to invest in the nation's power sector.

He disclosed that Nigeria had signed various Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China and other countries to boost nuclear energy in the country.

He said that the MoU were signed to improve electricity supply and boost socioeconomic activities in the country.Isau reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Government to utilise nuclear energy for effective and regular power supply?
